Your Spooky Halloween Guide

The Halloween season is upon us. The stores are all stocked with candy. Children are trying to decide what they want their costume to be. And everywhere you go, there seems to be some kind of pumpkin flavored option—pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, and even pumpkin flavored cookies. Along with pumpkin carving and candy eating, check out this Halloween Weekend Guide for all you ghosts and goblins.

Scream Parks

To kick off your Halloween weekend, be ready to scream! There are two great (and horrifying) scream parks that will certainly have you checking under your bed for monsters and sleeping with one eye open at night.

NILES SCREAM PARK: Considered by many as one of the top haunted attractions in the country, the Niles Scream Park rebuilds all six attractions each year to provide you with completely new, unique, and terrifying shows. Only a 24-minute drive from downtown South Bend, Niles Scream Park is a scary good time.

October 27 and 28, 7:00 – 11:00 pm

October 29 and 31, 7:00 – 10:00 pm

FEAR ITSELF AT LEGEND PARK: As one of the largest Scream Parks in the country, Fear Itself at Legend Park in Mishawaka features five astonishing attractions that will have jumping right out of your shoes. Although the Fear Itself attractions are considered some the scariest dark attractions anywhere, there is also family friendly haunted houses and attractions. On Saturday, October 29, The Legend Monster Halloween Tent Party will feature snacks, fireworks , live music, and endless trips throughout the attractions and it will be all night long. Every night there is a free bonfire party with s’mores, music, and entertainment too.

U93 Monster Bash at the Palais Royale

After getting scared by monsters and ghouls, head over to the Palais Royale at the Morris Performing Arts Center for the third annual “Monster Bash.” There will be prizes for best costume, great music and dancing. You must be 21+ to attend. This rockin’ Halloween party goes from 9:00 pm – 2:00 am.

Looking for something fun to do during Halloween weekend that the entire family can enjoy? Look no further! At Thistleberry Farm, there is a pumpkin patch, mazes, super slide, pedal cars, and even a wagon ride around the farm. Open everyday through October 30, make sure you bring the family out to Thistleberry Farm for a guaranteed fun time.

Notre Dame Football

No scary zombies here… Just an energetic leprechaun. Notre Dame Football has their last home game of October during Halloween weekend. Cheer on the Irish to victory as they take on North Carolina State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm on October 28. If you do not have tickets to the game, do not worry there are plenty of football festivities on campus all weekend long.


Trick or Treating

Finally, what is Halloween without trick or treating? For children, trick or treating means two things—fun costumes and lots and lots of candy. What could be better? Below are the times for trick or treating in St. Joseph County.
