World Class Music in South Bend
Each Spring, typically on Mother’s Day weekend, hundreds of the nation’s and world’s finest young chamber musicians pour into South Bend, Indiana, to compete in the nation’s largest chamber music competition. And you have a chance to hear them play!
The Fischoff Competition takes place at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, which vibrates from the energy created by musicians, families, friends and enthusiasts. On May 6-8, from morning to night, string, wind, brass and mixed ensembles (Forty-nine) will compete for more than $34,000 in prize money, tours and the honor of winning a 43rd annual Fischoff gold, silver or bronze medal. Performances last approximately ½ hour each. All sessions are free and open to the public except for the final Grand Prize Concert on Sunday afternoon, which is a ticketed event open to the public. For this event only, contact the DeBartolo Box Office at 574.631.2800. A community reception will follow in the lobby. We encourage the community and visitors to discover what Fischoff is all about.
LIVE-STREAMING THE COMPETITION
If you can’t join us in South Bend, be sure and join us right here for live-streaming all day, May 7th and 8th on our website. Each year, individuals from 50 or more countries from around the globe tune in to follow their favorite ensemble and see if they win a prize.
