South Bend Cubs
August 30 – September 1 | Times Vary | Four Winds Field
Cheer on the South Bend Cubs this weekend as they close out the 2017 regular season against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The team has some great promotions going on throughout the final home series. South Bend Cubs 2018 calendars will be given away to the first 1,000 fans of each game. September 1 is Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark with plenty of in-game giveaways and a few surprises waiting for you at Four Winds Field. There will even be a fireworks show after the game.

Rum Village Aerial Adventure Park
All Weekend Long | Times Vary | Rum Village Park
Go for a two-hour, three-hour, or all-day adventure as you soar over 60 obstacles and through pulse-racing zip lines that range from 15 feet to 70 feet in the air on this aerial ropes course. Courses range in difficulty from moderate to advanced so everyone will have the opportunity to zip line through the trees of Rum Village Park.
First Fridays: Dog Days of Summer

This First Friday celebration has gone to the dogs. Local rescue groups and animal organizations will have booths around downtown South Bend in addition to live music, special one-night promotions at local eateries and shops, and activities for the whole family including their four-legged, furry friend.
Notre Dame Football
September 2 | 3:30pm | Notre Dame Stadium
Football is back in South Bend! Cheer on Notre Dame as they take on the Temple Owls in their 2017 season opener. Watch a game in the newly-renovated Notre Dame Stadium with new luxury suites, a new visiting team tunnel, and a new video board. Before kickoff, experience a game day weekend in The Bend with Trumpets Under the Dome, Midnight Drummer’s Circle, tailgating and more.
White Water Rafting
September 3 | 1:00pm- 5:00pm | East Race Waterway
Attention adventure seekers! Don’t miss your last chance of the summer to go white water rafting in downtown South Bend on the East Race Waterway. On Sunday, September 3, you can battle class 2 rapids on the first urban white water rafting course in North America as you ride down the East Race with family and friends.
Festivals in Town
The South Bend Mishawaka area has two great festivals going on during Labor Day Weekend: the Mishawaka Heritage Festival and the Michiana Celtic Festival.
The Mishawaka Heritage Festival celebrates Mishawaka’s ethnic, religious, and industrial roots. Along with some great presentations on what makes the city of Mishawaka so unique, there will also be music, dance performances, games, food and even a fireworks show at the end of the festival. The festival will be on Sunday, September 3 from 4:00pm – 10:00pm in Central Park.
Speaking of the Irish, the annual Michiana Celtic Festival will also be taking place on Sunday, September 4. This all-day festival begins at 10:00 am in Howard Park. Along with Irish dancers, children’s games, storytelling, and Irish food and drink, the Highland Athletics Competition will be taking place at the festival. Don’t miss your chance to immerse yourself into Celtic culture.
Great Golf Spots
The South Bend area has plenty of options for you to pick up your golf clubs and head out to the links. Whether you are an experienced golfer or fairly new to the game, there are plenty of options to choose from during Labor Day Weekend.
The Notre Dame Golf Course is a nine-hole golf course located on the southwest corner of the University of Notre Dame’s campus. This par 35 regulation golf course provides golfers with a fair challenge, in a relaxed atmosphere.
The South Bend Country Club has a long-standing tradition of world class recreation and gracious hospitality. At 6,600 yards, South Bend Country Club’s natural lakes, lush marshes, and graceful willow trees provide golf enthusiasts with a unique golfing experience.
Juday Creek Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course conveniently located just off the Indiana Toll Road between South Bend, Mishawaka, and Elkhart. The Creek, as it is known to regular players, features 56 bunkers and 13 holes with water. There are also five sets of tees to make the course fun for every level of golfer. The Creek also features a driving range and a putting green.
Blackthorn Golf Club, ranked #1 municipal course in the state of Indiana, will not disappoint. This par 72, 7,136- yard layout golf course provides golfers with a challenge as they make their way through 226 acres of heavily wooded rolling terrain. Blackthorn also provides golfers with a grill and pro shop.
