The U.S. Senior Open Championship started "as a result of the remarkable growth in senior golf, both at the professional and amateur levels." The first U.S. Senior Open Championship was contested in 1980 and was hosted on the East Course of Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. The winner that year was Roberto De Vicenzo.
Since then, the U.S. Senior Open Championship has continued to be contested at notable sites around the country. The 2019 U.S. Senior Open Championship will be played on The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame.
Field: 156 professionals and amateurs, 50 years or older on or before June 24, 2019
Format: 72 hole stroke play; the field will be cut to low 60 and ties upon completion of the second championship round
Youth in Free: Youth age 18 and under will receive free admission to the championship, on any day, with a ticketed adult.
Television: The Championship will be broadcast in over 120 countries with more than 20 hours of live television coverage on FOX and FOX Sports 1.
