East Race Waterway – Downtown South Bend is home to the first man-made white water rafting course in North America. The East Race Waterway is open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons June through August, and is the perfect activity for adventure-seekers.
Community Foundation Performing Arts Series – This FREE summer concert series offers a great chance to enjoy a relaxing evening at Chris Wilson Pavilion in Potawatomi Park. Patrons are invited to bring blankets, chairs, snacks and drinks, and to kick back and enjoy the show.
Art Beat – This annual art event has become a summer tradition. Every type of art imaginable – from culinary, to handmade jewelry, to paintings and sculptures – is on display in downtown South Bend for one afternoon.
Potawatomi Zoo – Home to more than 400 animals, Potawatomi Zoo boasts many rare and endangered species. Enjoy 23 acres of beautifully landscaped Zoo grounds, take a ride on the Potawatomi Zoo Train, and don’t forget to visit the full-service concession stand and gift shop.
Canoe at St. Patrick’s County Park – Take to the water at St. Patrick’s Park by renting a canoe. The scenery is beautiful, and the arm workout is no joke – it’s a total win-win!
South Bend Cubs – The sights, sounds and smells of a ballpark represent summer to many people, and there is no better summer evening activity than checking out a South Bend Cubs game at Four Winds Field.
Camp at Potato Creek State Park – For those looking to get a little outdoorsy, camping at Potato Creek State Park is a MUST during the summer months. The park offers campsites and cabins, and boasts plenty of recreational activities to keep everyone busy all day.
Urban Adventure Games – Explore our community like never before with this annual summer event. Urban Adventure Games challenges you physically and mentally while exploring many of our local attractions.
Wednesday Wine Walk – Downtown South Bend celebrates summer with a side of wine at this monthly event. Many downtown restaurants offer food and wine pairings for patrons, and a different local charity is benefited each month – can you make it to all the stops?
Live Music – There is an abundance of live music in South Bend Mishawaka during the summer months. Special concert series include Fridays by the Fountain and Seitz and Sounds, as well as performances organized by South Bend Parks and Mishawaka Parks taking place throughout the summer.
