As a lifelong resident of South Bend, IN, it was always Peg Dalton’s dream to own a business in her hometown. After years of managing other restaurants, Peg finally took a leap of faith and opened her own establishment under the umbrella of a national franchise.
That was back in 2001. Since then, she, her staff, and restaurant have grown to be a staple in the downtown community. Becoming the premier location for breakfast, brunch and lunch, many business deals, community meetings, and weekend family gatherings have taken place inside these walls.
Having built the kind of place where customers are greeted by name after only a few visits and patrons feel like part of the family, Peg is very proud of their reputation. Her passion for the community and the people she serves has only increased over the years. As the downtown corridor developed into its own destination, Peg too felt the need to become independent.
After 16 years, in October of 2017, she took another leap of faith, left her franchise behind and opened PEGGS in the same location. PEGGS continues to be the warm, “everyone knows your name” gathering place it has always been, but now offers a more local connection to the community as well as a delicious option for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

The relationships Peg has developed with other local businesses and public officials, the opportunities to contribute to non-profit events, as well as giving local residents and out of town guests an enjoyable dining experience are all what bring her true joy. It is her hope and the hope of her family and staff, that each time you walk through the door, you feel welcome and a part of the PEGGS family.
