First Fridays in South Bend

Downtown South Bend hosts “First Fridays” on the first Friday of each month all year. Residents and visitors alike fill the streets for live music, movies and other entertainment.

It’s a great time to explore South Bend for activities and artist receptions. Often there are special one-night promotions at different shops, museums and restaurants. First Fridays are fun, family-friendly and free (or at a reduced admission rate). Each First Friday has a special theme, so be on the lookout for what’s coming next.

December 7 — Downtown for the Holidays

Celebrate the holiday season as Santa makes his grand arrival in downtown. Once Santa makes his entrance, enjoy a tree lighting ceremony and a fireworks display. Bring along your camera for photo opportunities at Santa’s House. All children visiting Santa will receive an “I Believe” sticker, which is good for one free chocolate bar at the South Bend Chocolate Café.

Visitors can also expect a lot more holiday fun:

Free cookie decorating in the DoubleTree atrium.
Gingerbread Village at the South Bend Museum of Art.
Roving carolers from the Children’s Music Workshop throughout downtown.
