Looking for your next hiking adventure? Head on out to Spicer Lake and explore our self-guided “Snowflakes at Spicer” trail. You’ll discover the incredible variety of snowflakes and the ingenious ways people photograph and preserve them! Look for the “Winter Walkthrough” sign in the parking lot.
Walk the Hawthorn Trail and learn about Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley, who photographed the first snowflake in 1885! Expand your knowledge with snow fun facts and view pictures taken of real snow crystals. In the end, grab a flier to learn how to capture and preserve your own snow crystals at home!
The Snowflakes at Spicer activity will be in place through the month of January. Park admission is FREE, and park hours are 11 am to 4:30 pm daily. For more information, please call 574-654-3155.
