The end of summer is here and that means it is about time for the kids to get ready to go back to school. Before they do, spend one last weekend of summer in South Bend Mishawaka. Celebrate Notre Dame’s 175th anniversary with the Notre Dame Trail, take in a ballgame at Four Winds Field, and experience a world of pirates and knights at the Michiana Renaissance Festival. Rest your head on Notre Dame’s campus and enjoy an overnight stay just beyond the shadow of the Golden Dome at the Morris Inn.
AUGUST 25 – 26 // ALL DAY // SOUTH BEND AREA
Join along at the end of the Notre Dame Trail, a pilgrimage from Vincennes to Notre Dame in honor of the 175th anniversary of Father Sorin making the same pilgrimage to found the university. You can hike through Potato Creek State Park and enjoy lunch and live entertainment at Howard Park in South Bend. Have dinner and cocktails in the new hospitality spaces of Notre Dame Stadium. You can even watch Rudy on Notre Dame Stadium’s new video board as part of the fun itinerary planned. On August 26, celebrate Mass with Notre Dame President Rev. Jon Jenkins, C.S.C. Afterwards, enjoy a picnic on campus to conclude the 175th anniversary celebration.
AUGUST 25 – 27 // TIMES VARY // FOUR WINDS FIELD
The South Bend Cubs are here to help you end your summer with a bang. The Cubs take on the Lake County Captains this weekend with a fireworks show, Chicago Cubs World Champions t-shirt giveaways and a chance to win a flat screen television.
AUGUST 26 – 27 // ALL DAY // PINHOOK PARK
The 7th annual Michiana Renaissance Festival is a weekend-long event that will take you back in time to a world where pirates pillage and knights joust in order to defend their kingdom. Whether you are a child or an adult, there is something for everyone to do and enjoy.
