Best. Week. Ever., a weeklong collection of experiences across South Bend, is set for Aug. 1-8 after being postponed on account of the coronavirus pandemic.
Let’s take a closer look at some headline events on the schedule.
Aug. 1 — Side-by-Side Parade
5-6 p.m. | East Bank Village/Jefferson Boulevard
A parade down Jefferson Boulevard honoring local heroes.
Aug. 2 — Rebel Art Fest
4-8 p.m. | Potawatomi Park
Art fair spearheaded by Make South Bend, featuring local artists, music and food trucks.
Aug. 3 — Dueling Pianos
4-8 p.m. | Leeper Park
Outdoor performance of dueling pianos, plus activities for children.
Aug. 4 — Southeast Celebration
4-8 p.m. | Southeast Park
Outdoor fun for children with low-touch interactive games, splash activities and performances on the mobile “Boomer” stage.
Aug. 5 — Best. Week. Ever. on Western Avenue
4-8 p.m. | Western Avenue at Liberty Street
Festival with family activities, local favorite food vendors and live music.
Aug. 6 — Recreation Day at Rum Village Park
4-8 p.m. | Rum Village Park
Explore Rum Village Park, including the aerial ropes course, trails and dog park.
Aug. 7 — First Fridays
5-10:30 p.m. | Downtown South Bend
First Fridays will be a “Kid’s Night Out” theme. There will be fireworks at dusk.
Aug. 8 — Sunburst Races
6:30-11 a.m. | Four Winds Field
Events for this year’s Sunburst Races include a half marathon, 10K run, 5K run and 5K fitness walk. Participants will start and finish at Four Winds Field with new routes after a coronavirus-related postponement from earlier in the year.

Coronavirus-Related Safety Measures
Best. Week. Ever. launched with a written safety plan in light of coronavirus concerns, approved by the St. Joseph County Health Department. Some highlights of the plan:
- Volunteers and staff will wear face masks.
- Volunteers and staff will also undergo a daily health screening.
- Gloves must be worn during any physical interaction.
- Extensive signage will be utilized to encourage physical distancing.
- Visitors will be asked to avoid over-crowding and wear face coverings.
