There’s no need to visit the Windy City for some of its famous pizza.
Chicago-style traditions run deep in The Bend, particularly at Giannetto’s Pizza and Pasta in Granger. Gianetto’s won the 2015 voting by visitors and locals for Best Pizza in The Bend. Its stuffed pizza is the stuff of local legend.
“We brought this pizza to the area,” owner Vic Gianetto says. “I always … wanted to be known for this stuffed pizza as a kind of flagship item.”
Giannetto’s started small and has changed locations several times over the years. At first, it was located down the street from the University of Notre Dame. Now you’ll find it on the busy corner of Cleveland Road and Capital Avenue in Granger.
Step through the entrance and you’ll find a cozy location, complete with a personal touch. Vic and his wife, Donna, take pride in their hands-on approach. You’re likely to see one (or both!) mingling with guests and checking on their patrons, making sure every detail is perfect.
That customer-first approach trickles down to the rest of the staff.
“If I see some people sitting there not talking, I go over and strike up a conversation,” Vic says.
Sounds like the perfect place to grab a slice, right? Make sure to be come with your appetite. Giannetto’s offers all the pizza options you could want, plus a wide variety of Italian dishes and sandwiches. Order spaghetti, lasagna or ravioli if the mood strikes — or maybe an authentic Chicago Italian sausage sandwich. Whatever the choice, you’re unlikely to head home disappointed.
