Indiana Destination Development Corporation

The Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) works with attractions, restaurants, hotels and other partners throughout Indiana to tell Indiana’s inviting stories to residents and visitors alike. Elaine Bedel serves as the secretary and CEO of the IDDC, which is a public-private sector corporation that replaced the former Indiana Office of Tourism Development. IDDC is overseen by a board of directors appointed by the governor.

Hoosiers by Choice Campaign

In partnership with the IDDC and Visit Indiana, Visit South Bend Mishawaka is amplifying the Hoosiers by Choice campaign. This campaign is designed to showcase Indiana as a wonderful place to work, live and play by featuring residents that have chosen to relocate to the state. 

Hotel Motel Association of St. Joseph County

To provide superior value and effective communication for our members by being the voice of the Hotel/Motel industry in government and public relations, providing programs offering operational benefits and creating opportunities for member involvement. The purpose of this Association is to promote, protect, and improve the hotel industry of St. Joseph County, Indiana. Learn more.


Visit South Bend Mishawaka is proud to market, promote and position our communities and campuses to visitors, event organizers, meeting planners and travel media. Of course, we can’t accomplish this alone and we’re fortunate to team up with other organizations throughout our area to advance our destination and work towards improving the quality of life experience for visitors and residents alike.



Visit South Bend Mishawaka in 2019 completed the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) and achieved this accreditation with distinction through Destinations International, a professional organization that represents destination marketing organizations and convention and visitors bureaus around the world. Accreditation recognizes Visit South Bend Mishawaka’s commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations around the world. Visit South Bend Mishawaka joins a select group of around 200 destination organizations that have achieved DMAP recognition.

Economic Impact Study 

Visit South Bend Mishawaka regularly partners with Certec to produce a report studying tourism and hospitality impact on the St. Joseph County economy. Read the full report for a look at the latest numbers, reflecting the 2019 calendar year.


Visit South Bend Mishawaka holds a Tourism Awards Reception each spring, during which we honor professionals and organizations that have had a positive impact on tourism in St. Joseph County. The popular Faces of Tourism series honors those who continually go above and beyond to ensure their customers/clients have the best visitor experience possible while in South Bend Mishawaka.


Visit South Bend Mishawaka (VSBM), with the assistance of the St. Joseph County Hotel-Motel Tax Board, has allocated $125,000 in funding for the marketing and hosting of events or exhibiting positive tourism potential to the St. Joseph County area. These funds are to assist qualified organizations with the promotion of tourism activities striving to directly increase hotel/motel occupancy and create positive image building publicity for St. Joseph County.

2020 St. Joseph County Tourism Capital Development Fund

The Hotel-Motel Tax Board of St. Joseph County (SJC) is continuing a Tourism Capital Development Fund (TCDF) as an initiative for 2020. The fund is intended to benefit the advancement of SJC as a destination for the next generation of visitors by investing in quality of place initiatives that will make SJC a more appealing place to enjoy.
